Hannu Kähönen is an esteemed industrial designer and the founder and CEO of the Creadesign Agency which was established in 1981.
Kähönen has been granted several design awards both in Finland and abroad. In 2001, he received the Pro Finlandia medal from the President of Finland, and in 2007, he was granted the iF product design award by the International Forum Design Gmph in Hannover, Germany. In 2006, the National Council for the Arts in Finland appointed Hannu Kähönen Artist Professor, a title granted to especially talented and merited artists and designers as representatives of their respective fields. There are currently 11 Artist Professors in Finland.
Kähönen is a versatile designer whose works range from strategic design to the design of products and corporate images. Kähönen emphasizes the concept of Design for All, with accessibility and environmental impact as prime considerations.
Some of his projects in the recent years include designing the padlocks and keys for Assa Abloy and designing the exterior and interior for the new handicap accessible trams and buses of the Helsinki City Transport Department.
